Early Life & Education
Born in the Netherlands, Andrew Willink spent his early childhood attending Dutch primary schools. At age 13, he moved to the UK, where he attended Ravenscroft School in Somerset, followed by secondary education at Gresham’s School in Norfolk.
Career
Andrew Willink has forged a distinguished career in the global financial services industry, spanning over five decades. He has held senior positions at prominent institutions including:
- National Australia Bank
- BT Australia
- Barclays
- Toronto-Dominion Bank
In 1992, he founded Canstar (originally known as CANNEX) in Brisbane. Under his leadership, Canstar became a pioneering platform for financial comparison, helping Australian consumers make more informed decisions during the retail finance transformation of the 1990s.
In 2006, he launched RateCity, which quickly grew into one of Australia’s most trusted platforms for comparing financial products including loans, credit cards, and banking services.
Personal Life
After retiring from the finance industry, Willink turned his focus to music, a lifelong passion. He created OpaSings and Melody Moments, two initiatives dedicated to sharing the joy of live violin music with private audiences—especially seniors in aged care and retirement communities. His performances blend classical, jazz, and popular music, fostering joy and emotional connection through live music.
